List No. 8 - More Great Books and Magazines for Dinos!

We've got some great stuff for sale here at Dinosaur Training Headquarters - including some very rare, almost impossible to find weightlifting and bodybuilding magazines.

Hail to the Dinosaurs!

I have a ton of duplicate books, courses and magazines about strength training, weightlifting, powerlifting, bodybuilding, physical culture, Iron Game history, boxing, wrestling, martial arts, diet,  nutrition, and related subjects, and I since I only need one copy of any particular item, I'm going to sell the rest of them.

And since we're going to be moving in the not too distant future, I'm looking for good homes for some of my one-of-a-kind items - and for some of my longtime friends from the bookshelves here in the Dinosaur Research Library.

Everything is first come, first served - meaning that the first person who shoots me an email about a given item. ("First" means "the first email in my inbox.)

So if you're interested in anything, do not delay. Shoot me an email and ask about availability. Include your shipping address so we can calculate shipping and handling for you. And be sure to tell me if you use PayPal. That's the easiest way to handle the payment.

All of these come from the world-famous Dinosaur Training Research Library. Thus, you'll have something great to read AND you'll be owning a true piece of Iron Game history.

LIST NO. 7 - RARE STRENGTH BOOKS AND MAGAZINES

INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIC LIFTER - VOL. 1, 11 ISSUES (VERY RARE!)

Let's go back in time to February, 1974. I was a 145-pound high school wrestler pounding heads and kicking you know what on the mat.

Somebody (I forget who) had just won the SuperBowl.

A whole lot of people were thinking about Valentine's Day.

And out in Los Angeles, Bob Hise, the owner of Mav-Rik Barbell Company, had just released issue no. 2 of his brand new magazine, International Olympic Lifter.

It was a great little magazine that focused on Olympic weightlifting. It had articles on training, workouts, programing, exercise performance, technique tips for the snatch and clean and jerk, contest and competition results, and features on many of the top lifters of the era, both in the USA and around the world.

If you're a weightlifter or a lifting fan, this is a great little publication - with tons of information that is just as valid today as it was back in 1974.

As you might imagine, it was a fairly obscure little publication, with a small circulation, and not many copies of each issue were printed. Today, 43 years later, issues from the first couple of years are extremely rare and hard to find.

I have 11 of the 12 issues from Vol. 1 (1974). They are in good to very good condition, but some of the issues have been hole-punched on the left side to fit into a three-ring binder. The set starts with issue no. 2 (February, 1974) and continues through issue 12 (December, 1974). Sorry, I never got my hands on a copy of issue no. 1.

This set will go fast - so if you want it, shoot me an email.

I also have a complete set of year two - all 12 issues - as well as various issues from other years. If you're interested in what else is available, ask me.

WEIGHTLIFTING USA - Vol. 8, No. 3 (from 1989)

Published by the USA Weightlifting Federation. 23 pages. Good condiiton. Includes meet reports, news, upcoming events, etc. Also includes the President's Message from Jim Schmitz. Lots of photos that you won't find anywhere else.

This copy belonged to Master's weightlifter Walt Zuk of Kansas City. If you look at the results of the 1989 National Masters Championships on page 19, you'll see that Zuk won the 100 kilo weight class in the Men's 55-59 year old age group. He made a 77.5 kilo snatch, a 107.5 kilo and clean and jerk, and totaled 185 kilos. The results are circled in red ink, presumably by Zuk himself. I imagine that he was very proud of that victory.

Note: I have other old issues of Weightlifting USA. If you're interested in learning more about them, shoot me an email.

IRON MAN - Vol. 45, Issues No. 1 thru No. 6 (the complete set)

This is the final volume of Peary Rader's IronMan magazine, including the big 50th anniversary special issue. After that issue, Peary sold the magazine and retired from publishing.

Each of these issues is big, with top-quality photos on the front and back covers. The first issue in the set has a small white spot at the very end of the right hand side of the cover, but it only affects the edge of the cover photo (i.e., the background).

Authors include Peary Rader, Bradley J. Steiner, Norman Zale, Bruce Page, George Puckett, Don Ross, Maurice Johnson, David Webster, Stuart McRobert, Vic Boff, Dr. Ken Rosa, Vince Gironda, Fred Howell, Tery Todd, Al Antuck, Charles A. Smith, Dr. G. K. Knowlton, Cliff J. Ameduri, M.D., Jim Manion, Denie, Garry Bartlett, Chris Shaw, Mike Brown, Peter Potter, Bill Starr, Jan Todd, Herb Glossbrenner, and many others.

This set is a collector's edition special.
