Squats for Older Dinos?

Hail to the Dinosaurs!

Let me give you a quick heads up and then
we'll talk training.

1. A New Reg Park Training Course

My good friend, Bill Hinbern, has released a
new Reg Park training course -- and it looks
GREAT! Go here to grab the little monster:

http://superstrengthtraining.com/secret-of-the-multi-set-system-reg-park

2. The Iron League

I'm letting John Wood load my original
Dinosaur Training DVDs onto The Iron
League -- and he's loaded three of them
so far. Plus, there's a ton of other great
stuff at The Iron League -- with more
being added all the time:

http://www.ironleague.com/

3. The December Dinosaur Files

Is available with immediate electronic
delivery, and it's been getting great
reviews from Dinos around the world.

Go here to grab the little monster:

4. Squats for Older Dinos?

On the training front, I thought I'd ask
the older Dinos a question -- and see
what sort of feedback we can get from
the Dino Nation.

The question is about squats.

At dinner last night, Trudi raised the
issue. (Yes, we talk about heavy iron
at the dinner table.)

"Do you think it's good for an older
trainee to do heavy back squats?" she
asked. "Or is there too much compression
on the spine?"

I was chewing on a big mouthful of
roasted mastadon, and I didn't answer
immediately.

So Trudi answered her own question.

"I think front squats are better for older
trainees," she said. "They place a lot
less pressure on the spine."

I kept on chewing.

She kept on answering her own question.

"And Trap Bar squats are probably best
of all," she added.

I nodded. Trap Bar squats and deadlifts are
off the charts good for anyone -- but they're
especially good for older Dinos.

I finished chewing the hunk of mastadon.

"Squats might be too hard on the spine
for some older trainees," I said. "But for
others, they might help keep the spine
healthy and strong."

"That's true," she said.

And then she had an idea.

"You should ask your older Dinos what
works best for them. It would be interesting
to see."

So that's what I'm doing.

Are you an older Dino?

Do you do back squats -- or do other exercises
work better for you now?

Shoot me an email and let me know! And
I'll figure out the best way to share the
results with your fellow Dinos! (We might
do it in the January issue of The Dinosaur
Files -- I think it would make a good
article.)

Yours in strength,

Brooks Kubik

P.S. Here are some great resources for
older Dinos:

a. Start with Gray Hair and Black Iron -- a book
that covers effective training for older Dinos
in detail -- and gives you over 50 different
workouts for older trainees:

http://www.brookskubik.com/grayhair_blackiron.html

b. Then try my "Going Strong at 54" DVD:

http://brookskubik.com/goingstrong.html

c. After that, grab my new mini-course for older
Dinos. It's available with immediate electronic
delivery:

http://www.brookskubik.com/minicourse_01.html

d. And last but not least -- each issue of the
Dinosaur Files newsletter covers effective
training for older Dinos -- and gives you
real life, real world workouts used by your
fellow Dinos. It's the stuff no one else ever
covers -- but it's standard fare for the Dino
Files. Be sure to grab each and every issue,
starting with December 2015:

else. But they're not forgotten here -- and
they never will be!" -- Brooks Kubik

Attention Dinos -- You May have Missed This!

Hail to the Dinosaurs!

(Note: I sent this out the day before
Thanksgiving, but many of you were
travelling and missed it, so I'm sending
it again. If you already saw it, I apologize
for the repeat -- but I want to make sure
that everyone in the Dino Nation knows
about the new monthly Dinosaur Files
with electronic delivery.)

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day here
in the USA, and we've been cooking
up a storm to bring you something
very special to help celebrate the
big day.

So here's the big news:

1. We're bringing back the world-famous
Dinosaur Files newsletter -- with all new,
original articles.

2. We're bringing it back as a monthly,
so you can get a big dose of information,
inspiration and motivation every 30 days.

3. We're offering the Dinosaur Files
with digital delivery - meaning that
you place your order and you get an
email with a link to download your
copy of The Dinosaur Files.

a. That means that there's no waiting.
You place your order and you get the
Dinosaur Files immediately.

b. It also means that there's no postage,
and no charge for shipping and handling.
That will save you a bundle, and if you're
an overseas Dino it will save you two or
three bundles.

c. And because this is a PDF product,
you can print each issue out and save
it in a file folder.

 d. The PDF format also allows us to
include live links in the articles -- and
to do other interesting things that we
can't do otherwise.

e. IMPORTANT: download the Dino Files
and save it on your computer as soon
as you receive the email with the link.
The link is only good for 24 hours, so
you need to be sure to download and
save your Dinosaur Files issue.

4. Each issue of the Dinosaur Files will be
around 20 to 25 pages -- but the first
issue is super-sized. It weighs in at
over 30 pages.

a. That makes it a T-Rex sized edition.

b. Maybe even Godzilla-sized.

5. The Dinosaur Files includes all new
articles written by me and by your
fellow Dinosaurs. It's your number
one source of real-world, no-nonsense
strength training and muscle-building
information.

6. We're offering each issue as a single
issue purchase. We may switch to a
yearly subscription in the future, but
for right now, it's an issue by issue
purchase. I'll send an email each
month with a link to the current
issue.

7. Last, and most important, here's the
link to the December issue:

Yours in strength,

Brooks Kubik

Going Strong -- The December Dinosaur Files!

Hail to the Dinosaurs!

We've had a ton of great feedback about
the December issue of the Dinosaur Files
newsletter.

That's great, because the Dinosaur Files
is a terrific publication -- and it's one of
the few remaining MONTHLY publications
devoted to old-school strength training
and muscle-building.

In other words, it continues the grand
tradition started by Bob Hoffman's
Strength and Health and Peary Rader's
Iron Man.

Most modern publications are little more
than high-priced catalogs for supplement
companies. If you count the pages, there
are far more supplement ads than articles.

And if you read the articles, you usually
don't find much of value.

That's particularly true if you're someone
who avoids the fads and follies of the day.

I really don't care who won the Mr. Whatever
contest this year -- or whether the contest
was rigged -- or whether So and So was
robbed.

Nor am I interested in how Mr. Everything
build 27 inch arms - or how Mr. Double
Everything triple bumps his pecs.

I don't want a six-day a week program to
mega lump my muscle lumps in 21 days.
I'd rather read about real world training.

You know, stuff by and about real people.

The 60-year old guy who works on pushing
his squat to 20 reps with 300 pounds.

The 52-year old guy who makes a come-
back after a bad slip and fall.

The 25-year old guy who reads about Dino-
style training and starts training old-school --
and gains 40 pounds of muscle over the next
12 months -- without drugs, without super
supplements, and without high-volume
pumping routines.

The guy who balances training with work,
family, and community obligations. Maybe
he can only train twice a week for 45 minutes
a workout -- but he gets it done, and his
workout is worth looking at.

The guy who combines strength training with
martial arts -- while balancing a job and
trying to spend some time with his family.
That's another workout that's worth some
study.

The guy who builds an industrial strength
power rack for his home gym and wants to
tell us how he did it.

The 60-year old who suffers a stroke -- and
uses weight training to build himself back up.

The man who builds his son back up after the
kid goes through a year of cancer treatment for
leukemia.

The guy who went to York and trained with
John Grimek once -- and wants to tell us
about it.

The guy with the killer stonelifting workout --
the great workout for the military press -- the
best deadlift workout ever -- or the gripper
workout that helped him close the legendary
No. 3 gripper.

That's what I want to read about. And that's
the kind of article you'll see -- with NO supplement
ads -- in each and every issue of The Dinosaur
Files.

In 2015 we did the Dinosaur Files as a Quarterly
publication. Readers liked it so much that we're
going back to our original monthly format, starting
with the December issue -- which you can get right
here, with immediate electronic delivery:

http://www.brookskubik.com/dinosaurfiles_december2015.html

Give the Dinosaur Files a try -- and let me
know how you like the little monster!

Yours in strength,

Brooks Kubik

Dinosaur Training Secrets - With Instant Delivery!

The great Reg Park -- 3-time Mr. Universe winner and the second man in history to bench press 500 pounds.  He followed the type of old-school training I cover in all of my books and courses.

Hail to the Dinosaurs!

About one month ago, we launched our first
Dinosaur Training course with electronic
delivery. It covers training for older Dinos.

You order the course, and you get a link
with the PDF -- so you can download and
save it to your computer, and then either
read it on screen or print it out and read it,
whichever you prefer.

We didn't know how you'd like this, but we
thought we'd give it a try.

The response was overwhelming.

Dinos around the world are loving the new
course -- and they're loving the fact that
they get immediate delivery and they
don't have to pay any clams for shipping
and handling.

For overseas Dinos, that's huge -- because
postage rates for overseas orders are
sky-high and keep going higher all the
time.

So we switched to electronic delivery for
the Dinosaur Files newsletter -- and that
was a big hit, as well.

And readers asked for MORE -- so we've
just reformatted all three of my Dinosaur
Training Secrets courses for electronic
delivery. Here are the links to the three
courses -- and note that you can order
all three together and save even more
wampum:

a. Dinosaur Training Secrets, Vol. 1

http://www.brookskubik.com/dinosaursecrets_vol1_digital.html

b. Dinosaur Training Secrets, Vol. 2

http://www.brookskubik.com/dinosaursecrets_vol2_digital.html

c. Dinosaur Training Secrets, Vol. 3

http://www.brookskubik.com/dinosaursecrets_vol3_digital.html

d. Dinosaur Training Secrets, all 3 volumes together

http://www.brookskubik.com/dinosaursecrets_vol123_digital.html

And yes, we still have them available in
hard-copy format -- so if you prefer that
option, it's available. But I know that many
of you prefer electronic delivery -- and now
it's available!

Also -- and this is important -- we've updated
our products page by adding a section for all
of our products with electronic delivery. Take
a look at it, and keep checking it out in the
future, because we're going to continue to
add to it:

The "Gotta Do It All" Guy

Hail to the Dinosaurs!

Not long ago, I wrote about the Program
Hopper. The Program Hopper jumps from
workout to workout and never sticks to
anything long enough to get good results.

The Program Hopper is first cousin to the
Gotta Do It All Guy.

The Gotta Do It All Guy is always worried
that's he's missing out on something
important. So he tries to include everything
under the sun in his workouts -- just to be
sure he does everything he needs to do.

In the old days, the muscle mags catered
to the Gotta Do It All Guy by teaching us
that we needed to bomb, blast and blitz
our muscles from every possible angle in
order to build maximum strength and
muscle mass.

That's why you had guys training their
chest (for example) with bench presses,
incline presses, flat bench flies, incline
flies, decline flies, cable cross-overs,
dumbbell pullovers, dips, one-arm
cable cross-overs, and who knows
what else.

You needed to work upper pec, lower
pec, inner pec, the outer pec line, the
lower pec line, the pec-delt tie in, the
deep fibers, the fast-twitch fibers, the
slow-twitch fibers, the rib cage, the
intercostals, the serratus, and all
the muscle fibers in-between.

If you didn't hit everything exactly right,
your chest would fall off, or explode, or
the judges at the Mr. America contest
would laugh at you, or you'd "lose your
girl on the beach to a guy who did
pec pumps" (which someone actually
warned us about in an article I read
when I was a kid).

The problem is this: if you try to do
everything, you end up not doing
anything very well.

The guys who tried the "every exercise
under the sun" workouts never got very
much in the way of results.

The guys who built the most muscle --
and the most strength and power -- were
the guys who worked hard on a limited
number of productive and effective
exercises.

And that's one of the secrets of strength
training and muscle building.

Don't spread yourself thin by training to
do everything.

Instead, focus on a small number of
exercises. Hit them hard. Train with
deep concentration and total focus.
Make every rep count.

Don't be the "Gotta Do It All Guy."

Be the "Gotta Do It Right Guy."

And the "Gotta Do the BEST Exercises
Guy."

Which will make you the "Got Some
Great Results Guy."

As always, thanks for reading and have
a great day. If you train today, make it
a good one!

Yours in strength,

Brooks Kubik

Attention Dinos -- We Need Feedback on the December Dinosaur Files!

Hail to the Dinosaurs!

I'm looking for feedback on the December
issue of the new monthly Dinosaur Files
with electronic delivery.

Sp if you've downloaded the December issue,
let me know how you like it.

Also, let me know how you like the electronic
delivery feature.

And if you don't mind, I'd love some feedback
on our new mini-course for older trainees --
which also features electronic delivery.

If you haven't read them yet, here are links
to place your order. They'll make great reading
tonight and over the weekend:

The December Dinosaur Files

http://www.brookskubik.com/dinosaurfiles_december2015.html

Dinosaur Mini-course for older trainees

http://www.brookskubik.com/minicourse_01.html

So far, we've been getting great feedback on
both The December Dinosaur Files and the
mini-course -- and the electronic delivery
has been working well -- but the more
feedback, the better.

And, of course, a big THANK YOU to everyone
who has ordered either or both of the little
monsters!

A Young Dino Hits the Gold Mine!

Hail to the Dinos!

There was a young guy from Louisville,
Kentucky who was hitting the iron at the
gym one day.

Or rather, he was waving some light
dumbbells and pumping reps on a
chrome-plated monkey machine.

No squats, no deadlifts, no standing
presses. None of the heavy stuff.

In other words, a typical guy doing a
typical workout at a typical gym.

While he's training, he's listening to a
podcast.

That's usually not a good idea, but it
actually worked well in this case.

He hears an interview with Charles
Poliquin, the Strength Sensei.

Likes what he hears, so later on, he
goes to Charles Poliquin's website to
check things out.

Finds a section where Charles Poliquin
recommends various books -- and one
of them is Dinosaur Training.

There's even an embedded video about
it.

The kid follows the link and bounces to
the Dinosaur Training website.

He starts reading my bio.

Suddenly, he realizes that he knows
me.

In fact, he's a very good friend of my
eldest step-son. They were even in a
band together.

He's been over to the house plenty of
times. He even attended our wedding.

He knew I lifted weights, and he knew
I had competed in powerlifting, but that
was all he knew about it. He didn't know
about Dinosaur Training and my other
books and courses.

Anyhow, he joins our email list and sends
a personal email outlining the story I just
shared with you.

And he says he's been training for awhile,
and not getting any results -- and he wants
to start doing Dino Style training.

Of course, what he doesn't know is that my
step-son is hitting the iron 3 times a week
out in our garage -- following a special Dino
program I wrote for him.

So we're going to invite the new guy over
for some serious, Dino-style training right
here in the Dino Dungeon.

I don't know about you, but I think he hit
pay dirt.

As always, thanks for reading and have a
great day. If you train today, make it a
good one.

Yours in strength,

Brooks Kubik
