You Can't Make this Stuff Up!

Hail to the Dinosaurs!

Several days ago I sent an email where I
talked about how everyone starts out by
following the high volume super programs
promoted by the mainstream muscle
media.

And, of course, they overtrain and get zippo
in the way of results.

In response, one of our long-time Dinos
shared the true story of a young man in
his late teens or early 20's who wanted
to start training and build some much
neded strength and muscle.

The kid joined a nearby gym -- and the
instructors put him on a 10 x 10
program.

That's right -- 10 x 10.

Ten sets of ten reps in every exercise.

For a BEGINNER.

And they had him do LOTS of different
exercises.

Because, after all, everyone knows you
need to hit the muscles from every possible
angle! And we wouldn't want to miss an
important exercise, would we?

So this poor beginner is doing 10 x 10 and
every exercise under the sun.

Of course, he gains nothing.

So the instructors double down -- and put
him on a 12 x 12 program.

12 sets of 12 reps on all of his exercises.

And really, folks -- you can't make this stuff
up. It honest to gosh happens. It probably
happens far more than any of us suspect.

If 12 x 12 doesn't work for him -- and it
won't -- they'll probably have him try 20
x 20. And if that doesn"t work, I guess
they'll try 50 x 50 -- or 80 x 80 -- or
perhaps even 100 x 100.

And, of course . . .  if any of the longtime
Dinos reading this had a chance to train the
kid -- and if he listened to what we said --
we know what we'd tell him to do:

1. We'd cut his volume WAY BACK.

2. Eliminate all of the non-essential
exercises.

3. Lower his reps.

4. Have him try something like 3 x 6
or 4 x 5 or 5 x 5.

5. Teach him to train for strength, not
for a pump.

6. Teach him about progression -- and about
how it's really important to add weight to
the bar whenerver you can.

7. And generally get him back on the road to
sane and sensible training -- as opposed to the
silly stuff that he's been doing.

Would it work?

Yes, it probably would -- as long as the kid
listened -- and as long as he put some good
old-fashioned effort into his workouts.

So do me a favor.

If the kid I described is YOU -- or close to you --
grab my new training course, read it, and start
trainingg the RIGHT way:

If you know asomeone who sounds like the poor
"kid I just described, then for gosh sake, pls
tell him about Dinosaur Training -- and pls make
him grab a copy of the new course -- and be sure
he follows the advice in it.

And make sure he sticks to it long enough to get
some real results.

It might just be the best darn thing that ever
happens to him.

As always, thanks for reading and have a great
day. If you train today, make it a good one!

Yours in strength,

Brooks Kubik
