Training Tips from Seven Old-School Champions

Today's Blog Post features training tips from seven famous old-school champions - including a very important tip from John Grimek.

Hail to the Dinosaurs!

Two quick notes, and then we'll talk
training - and cover some important
training tips from seven old-school
champions.

1. The Complete Physique Course

This is a great old-school training course,
which has been out of print for many
years - but it's available again in a
special Kindle series, courtesy of
John Wood. Check it out!

The Complete Physique Course,
Lessons 1 and 2

and old-school bodybuilding.

The Complete Physique Course,
Lessons 3 and 4

Olympic weightlifting.

These have been very popular - they both
jumped up to no. 1 in their category in
the Kindle store - and readers are really
enjoying them - so scoot on over and
grab them!

2. The Dinosaur Files

I'm finishing up the next issue of The
Dinosaur Files - it will be a combined
September - October issue - and I think
you're really going to like it.

In the meantime, if you missed the last
two issues, grab them now:

July-August Dino Files

May-June Dino Files

Each issue of The Dinosaur Files has
training tips, workouts, and tons of fun
and informative articles - all of it the
sort of real-world, no-nonsense training
advice you've come to know and expect
from Dinosaur Headquarters.

3. Seven Old-School Strength Training
Tips

I thought you'd enjoy seven quick training
tips from the old-school champions - so
here they are.

Each one is from a different old-time
champion.

1. A Tip from Sig Klein

Perform all of your exercises in perfect form,
with no cheating. Work the muscles over the
complete range of motion on every rep.

2. A Tip from Steve Stanko

To build strength, do plenty of heavy singles
in the big exercises.

3. A Tip from John Grimek

Always focus on the muscle group you are
exercising with any particular movement -
and concentrate as hard as possible on each
rep - try to feel the muscle working over
every inch of movement.

4. A Tip from Bob Hoffman

You can't train on your nerve too often. It's
always best to alternate light, medium and
heavy workouts.

5. A Tip from George F. Jowett

One of the best ways to progress in your
training is to begin with relatively simple
exercises, and gradually move up to harder
and more demanding movements.

6. A Tip from John Grunn Marx

Use thick-handled dumbbells to build your
grip strength. Depending on the size of
your hands, gradually work up to 2, 2.5
or even 3 inch thick dumbbell handles.

7. A Tip from Earle Liederman

Specialize on building bone, tendon and
ligament strength just as much as building
muscle strength.

So there you go - seven training tips from
seven old-school champions.

Let me know how you like these - if you
like them, we can do plenty more of
them!

Meanwhile, and as always - thanks for
reading, and have a great day. If you
train today, make it a good one!

Yours in strength,

Brooks Kubik

P.S. Speaking of building bone, tendon,
and ligament strength - my new course
on heavy partials will do exactly that -
and FAST!
