Try It and See!

I get this question all the time - and the answer is always the same.

Hail to the Dinosaurs!

Two quick notes and then we'll talk
iron.

1. Strength Training Q and A
Go here to grab the first two volumes
in my Strength Training Q and A series:

I'm working on vol. 3, and it will be
ready pretty soon!

2. The Bone Strength Project

Jone Wood's report on the Bone
Strength Project and how to
implement it in your own training
has been getting great reviews.

Go here to grab the report:

John Grimek did specialized training to build his bones, tendons and ligaments - and it worked pretty well for him! John Wood's Bone Strength Project builds on that tradition.

This is a fascinating experiment -
and a training method that all of
us can work into our programs.

3. Try It and See!

I get tons of emails - and before
email was around, I got tons of
letters - from trainees around the
world.

They tend to fall into several broad
categories.

One is the "Will it work?" email.

In this email, someone asks about
a particular exercise, piece of equip-
ment, or training method, and asks
me if I think it will work.

Sometimes, it's a detailed workout.

"Brooks - here's my new workout.
Will it work?"

A related and very common email is
the one where someone gives me all
the reasons in the world why some-
thing won't work.

I get a lot of those. They're always
about something that I write about,
and that I suggest doing. They're
often about things that have worked
for me - so it's interesting to hear
that it's impossible for them to
work.

The answer to the first kind of
question - the "Will it work?"
email - is always the same.

"Try it and see."

That's really the only way to find
out if something works for you.

You have to test it. There's no
other way to answer the question.

The answer to the second kind of
question - the "Here's all the
reasons why it won't work" email -
is somewhat similar.

"It worked for me - and it's worked
for other Dinos - and it might very
well work for you. Why not try it
and see?"

Again, this goes back to the idea of
sensible experimentation. The only
way to see if something works for
you is to try it and see what
happens.

After that, you can send me a much
more interesting and more useful
email - the one I call the "I tried it
and here's what happened" email.

Those are the ones I like to read -
and share with your fellow Dinos.

And if you think about it, the Iron
Game is based on the information
we've gathered from trainees who
decided to try something and see
what happened - and who then
reported on their results.

As always, thanks for reading,
and have a great day. If you train
today, make it a good one!

Yours in strength,

Brooks Kubik
