Magic Pill Syndrome

 
John Grimek gained almost 60 pounds of solid muscle during his first three years of training - and he did it with old-school, Dino-style strength training. He went on to become the greatest bodybuilder of his generation.


Hail to the Dinosaurs!

We got a ton of feedback on yesterday's
email message about younger Dinos un-
subscribing from my email list - and never
giving old-school, Dino-style training a
chance to work its magic.

Many of the older Dinos suggested that
this was due to what I call "Magic Pill
Syndrome."

Ray Vaillancourt put it like this:

The younger generation doesn't get it.
The champs from the past knew what it
takes to get results.

Nowadays, everyone wants big results in
the shortest possible time.

Take this pill and that supplement.

But nothing beats good, old-fashioned
hard work and clean food.

Real strength takes years of training,
not 90 days.

If they would follow your plan they
would make good progress in a short
period of time - and then, hopefully,
they would stay with it forever.

The key is to treat your training like a
religious practice - and make it some-
thing you do for your entire life.

Thanks, Ray - that puts it very well.

The only thing I would add is this . . .

Younger trainees have it tough because
they don't have very many role models
for the kind of training, diet and lifestyle
that older Dinos know and follow.

In other words, they need our help.

It's up to us to help them find the way
to the top of the Iron Mountain - and the
best way to do that is to lead by example.

We need to let our results speak for them-
selves - and let the benefits of life-long
training and intelligent diets speak so
clearly and so loudly that no one could
possibly miss it.

Always remember - you change the world
one lifter at a time.

And yes, it's a slow process - but if we
work together, we can do it!
