"Aren't You Too Old for That?"

Having fun hitting the iron at the outdoor training area here at Dino Headquarters. At age 60, my workouts are more fun and more important than ever!

Hail to the Dinosaurs!

Someone asked me if I was still
"doing that weightlifting stuff?"

"Absolutely," I said.

He frowned and shook his head.

"Aren't you a little old for that
stuff?" he asked.

"No," I replied. "I'm too old NOT
to do it!"

That's how I feel about lifting -
and about exercise in general.

It's very important at any age.

It's something you should start
doing when you're young, and
keep on doing for the rest of
your life.

The benefits are enormous.

But regular exercise and
progressive strength training
are more important as you
grow older - and the benefits
become greater and greater
as you grow older.

However - the benefits of
exercise change as you grow
older - and that's something
that confuses many people.

And sometimes, that same
confusion causes them to
stop training at exactly the
time when they need it the
most.

When you're young, you can
gain 40 or 50 pounds of muscle
and increase all of your lifts by
hundreds of pounds. (And you
can do this, and you should do
this, without steroids or other
drugs.)

When you're older, the gains
slow down.

But just because the gains slow
down doesn't mean that you're
not getting some serious benefits
from your training.

As an older trainee, your workouts:

1. Help you maintain strength and
muscle mass.

2. Help you stay lean and muscular.

3. Help prevent the degenerative
diseases that everyone else your
age is suffering from.

5. Helps keep your bones strong.

6. Helps keep your hormone levels
healthy and high.

7. Helps reduce stress.

8. Helps keep your brain and your
nervous system healthy and strong.

9. Gives you something to do do
that's both challenging and fun.

10. And as a result of all of the
other benefits, regular exercise and
progressive resistance training helps
you live longer - and to enjoy every
day of your life to the absolute
maximum.

That's why, at age 60, I'm too
old to ever consider not training.

My workouts are just too darn
important!

Yours in strength,

Brooks Kubik
